SASI Consulting thoroughly reviews a client’s current systems and processes and presents solutions to create more effective ones. This is accomplished in three core phases.

Methodolgy

SASI Consulting’s Methodology represents the logical chronology of steps necessary to successfully move clients from current systems and processes to new, more effective ones.

This is done by:

  • developing an understanding of current processes and desired outcomes; 
  • educating the client on what the system can do and how it can be best configured to meet current and future needs; 
  • system prototyping and configuration; 
  • redesigning business processes where necessary; 
  • testing of delivered and customized functionality, including reports and interfaces; 
  • documenting configuration and business processes; and, 
  • providing end-user training when desired by the client.

Three Core Phases

These activities are rolled up under three core phases:

Analysis and Design

Before any solution or configuration is proposed, an in-depth understanding of current business processes, resources and skill sets, and objectives is undertaken. Understanding transaction volumes, tolerances for manual versus automated processing, and current bottlenecks aid in conceptualizing the functionality to be addressed. Gaining a perspective on phasing – what needs to be in place at go live versus what can be implemented in future stages is also useful. The Client’s philosophy on delivered versus customized functionality is taken into account. For each area of functionality to be implemented, customizations, reports, interfaces, and conversion programs are identified so that functional specification documents may be developed.

Configuration and Development

The Configuration and Development phase addresses the functional and technical aspects of the implementation. Processes are reviewed and adapted; procedures, including both system and office are defined; specifications for customizations, interfaces, and reports are actualized by technical resources; and conversion strategies, data mapping, and scripts are developed and implemented. During this phase, the modules are configured and validated to make certain that requirements and expectations are met. This may be done in steps with a small prototype of the setup being implemented and tested for assurance.

Testing, Documentation and Training

While client resources must validate that the system is operating as expected, SASI Consulting does all initial testing and prepares the client for acceptance testing:

  • Alpha Testing: Review of code, look and feel of modification; initial run of all processes from start to completion; 
  • Integration testing to verify that interfaces between modules perform as expected; 
  • Builds scenarios for Beta Testing: acceptance testing by the client to ensure that all plausible scenarios have been considered.

Documents are developed to record system configuration as well as some of the rationale behind the configuration. The rationale is useful when considering changes to modifications, adding to the configuration, or changing the configuration in the future. It is also a useful resource for new staff orientation.

SASI Consulting will also prepare training materials and conduct the training for end-users. The documentation is specific to your institution and incorporates your configuration as well as business processes.
